My name is Carson. I am a Pekingese and am about 5 years old. I came from the North Platte Humane Society because they couldn't adopt me out from there. You see, I nipped at someone trying to work with me. What they didn't realize was, I am blind in my left eye !!

Since I came to rescue I have been to Dr. Diane and got some drops for my eye. I have had a dental and am up to date on all my vaccinations. I tested negative for heart worm and am on preventative. I had surgery to reduce my fat little cheeks - the hair on my face kept rubbing and irritating my eyes. Now I am fine, and don't even have eye drops.

I am very good at the groomers, and don't even mind having my nails done.

Carson is a little shy and timid, but clearly comes around given a little time - and treats.  He walks wonderfully on leash ... which brings him great joy !! .

He's a very pretty boy, and will make someone a wonderful companion. He lives here with 5 other dogs and 2 cats.  He is fine with children as young as 12

Joey is a little 8 pound Shih Tzu.  When his family tired of him, they just threw him away along side a busy highway. This is no way to treat a beloved little friend.

Joey is neutered now, given all his vaccinations, will have a heart worm test and put on preventative, and will have a much needed dental.

He gets along wonderfully with all the other dogs, is gentle and nice with the cats. He seems to love all humans, large and small, men and women.  We had to give him a summer do before he could have a much needed bath .... but his beautiful coat will grow out very quickly. He is a dream to handle.

Joey is in need of a refresher course on his house training .... if he ever lived in a house to begin with.  He may just have been a breeder dog, and discarded when they were done with him.  We are also working on crate training .... at least until he is more reliably house trained.

If you love these little dust mops, please contact us.  He is sweet and gorgeious in color. Amiable and lives and plays well with others. What's not to love?

Patches
Patches is a very sweet little boy that came to rescue due to his owner going in to assisted living. Patches is somewhere around 12 years old, and only weighs about 12 pounds. He is totally house trained, current on all of his vaccinations, heart worm negative and freshly home from a much needed dental.

This little guy is great with dogs, cats and humans. According to his previous owner he prefers the company of men, but is just great with women as well. He mastered the doggie door in one day - which makes him smart as a whip, in my book. He would do best in a home with another dog that is not terribly dominant or aggressive ... this is a timid little boy. He does very well with his grooming and having his nails done.

Shelties can be very long lived, so he is not in his twilight years at all. He does take medication daily to control seizures. He has not had any seizures in many years, and the medication is very inexpensive. He takes an arthritis tablet daily for arthritis in a rear leg that had been dislocated or broken many years ago.

A home with an older person or couple would be ideal for him. With or without another dog.
