I am a really sweet girl, I like the other dogs and cats here, though I frighten easily. I never slept in a bed before, and am finding that to my liking. I use a potty pad, but will go out the doggie door if it's nice out.
On the 17th of November, 2008, my right eye was surgically removed because of glaucoma. I will have to have my left eye monitored every 3 months - I have drops in my eye every day to keep glaucoma from starting in my left eye.
I'm still the sweet, loveable girl I was before. I have a really quirky personality, and I am fine with children as young as 12. I am learning to walk on leash and I relly enjoy it.

Bridge
Lydia was found as a stray and taken to the Kearney Area Humane Society. We can't imagine the circumstances that put this wonderful dog out on her own at her age, but it must have been dire circumstances, indeed. She couldn't have been out there long as she was not starving nor very frightened. She may be a little hard of hearing, but is otherwise very healthy. In true dachsie fashion she will need a human vigilant about watching how much she eats. She sleeps in bed with her human at night and snoozes on the couch during the day. She will need steps of her own to access these snoozing spots as she will try jumping if steps are not available. She walks wonderful on leash.
Lydia does well with the other pets here, but is not overly cozy with any of them. She loves most humans and is indifferent to the rest. Most likely she was an only pet.
Dachsies are very long lived and she would love a family of her own to live out her golden years. She is all ready to go.
